Welcome to the Yacht Ventures Book A Berth site. Our programme of cruises and races offers individuals the chance to go sailing on big, beautiful yachts without the hassle of organising a charter party. Come on your own, or with a partner or friend, or in a small group – we can accommodate practically any requirement.

People come sailing with us for all sorts of reasons. Some want to develop their sailing skills on more serious, extended passages. Some need sea miles / night hours / long passages for their Yachtmaster or Day Skipper qualifications. Some want to learn yacht racing skills from an experienced skipper, with an eye to future yachting events. But many simply want a completely absorbing break on an exciting yacht in the company of a like-minded group.

From April to October, we run a programme of Book A Berth cruises, races and regattas. We offer a wide range of events, so that you can pick ones that suit you.

The idea of all our trips is to have fun. We use big, beautiful, powerful yachts – mainly Beneteau First 47.7s – because they are more fun than small, tubby, slow yachts. We choose skippers as much for their ability to encourage a happy atmosphere on board as for their nautical competence. We brief them to ensure that everyone is able to develop their skills in whatever way they wish.

We will prepare the boat for sea and organise the provisions; all you have to do is book a berth and turn up at the appointed time – usually at Ocean Village Marina, close to the centre of Southampton. Our big yachts can accommodate up to 10 or even 12 guests when racing, though when cruising we keep the number down to 6 or so. With a crew this big, you can expect to find some kindred spirits among the group. In practice, we find that our operation seems to attract people who are very good company - there’s a bit more about our typical clients on other pages.

Prices are shown on individual event pages, reached via the menu on the left.

We now have pdf event summaries downloadable from several major event pages.
